This introductory Gas Detection Boot Camp provides a practical, real-world foundation in gas monitoring principles, technologies, and applications. Designed for safety sales professionals, technicians, and operations personnel, the course covers the key gas hazards encountered in industrial and commercial environments and how to effectively detect and manage them.
Participants will learn to identify common types of gases and compounds, with focused instruction on monitoring flammable, toxic, and inert gases. The course explores sensor technologies used for each gas type, explaining how they work, where they are best applied, and their limitations. For flammable gas monitoring, attendees will gain an understanding of area classifications and how they impact sensor selection and placement.
The toxic gas segment emphasizes exposure limits, including regulatory thresholds, alarm setpoints, and the significance of exposure ratings (EVs) in protecting worker health. Inert gas monitoring highlights oxygen-deficient atmospheres and the sensor technologies used to detect these invisible hazards.
The training concludes with an overview of vapor density and its critical role in gas behavior, sensor placement, and hazard assessment. By the end of the boot camp, participants will be equipped with the knowledge to select appropriate detection technologies, interpret readings accurately, and apply best practices for gas safety in the field.
