Database Administrator

Job Description

RKI is seeking a full-time position for an in-house database administrator. Duties in this position include database development, bug & enhancement maintenance, user troubleshooting, and management of various database components and tools primarily within Filemaker Pro and RKI’s ERP systems. Manage new FMP development projects from initial scope to final production. In some roles, your responsibilities involve teaching non-technical staff how to use the databases and providing general support for users. This position would also be responsible for administering RKI’s ERP system, Qube Software, which would include trouble shooting user issues, reporting bugs to ERP developer, installing updates, and managing users and user privilege sets. RKI manufactures gas detection instruments which are industrial safety products built to protect the lives of workers in a wide variety of industries all over the world. Filemaker Pro is used throughout the company for a variety of business solutions and processes including CRM, RMA’s, QA Inspections, Customer Feedback, Calibration Certificates as well as many new solutions scheduled for development.

Responsibilities

  • Primary point of contact for all Filemaker and ERP database issues.
  • Administration of Filemaker Pro Server.
  • Administer and maintain Filemaker and ERP user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
  • Manage new Filemaker Pro development projects from initial scope to final production working with existing contracted FMP developers.
  • Manage existing FMP solutions and users.
  • Trouble shoot FMP and ERP issues to resolution.
  • Database administrator for RKI’s ERP system including user support, trouble shooting, bug & enhancement reporting to developer, and installing updates.

Job Requirements

  • Experience designing, implementing and deploying FileMaker database solutions using FileMaker Pro (or Filemaker Pro Advanced) and FileMaker Server.
  • 3-5 years of experience as a FileMaker Developer/Administrator with solid technical skills in FileMaker Pro (version 15 or higher).
  • Web/PHP and/or SQL experience is a definite plus!
  • Ability to design user interfaces, script, and define databases.
  • Experience with ERP software is a plus. Experience specifically with Qube software is not required.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills. Must have the ability to set priorities, manage and complete multiple projects with critical deadlines. Produce high quality, accurate work under time constraints.
  • Able to manage demanding schedules and prioritize multiple tasks while working independently with minimal supervision. Some evening availability may be required.
  • Four-year Bachelor Degree preferred.
  • Software proficiency requirements include an intermediate level at a minimum in the current versionsof the following software (or equivalent) programs:
    • Filemaker Pro

    • Filemaker Pro Advanced

    • Filemaker Pro Server

    • Filemaker Pro Go

Repair Technician

RKI Instruments, Inc., an innovative gas detection company located in Union City, is seeking a focused individual with strong technical and customer service skills to provide in-shop service on RKI Instruments and Riken Keiki portable and continuous monitoring gas detection instruments. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Technician provides evaluations, estimates, troubleshoot to component level and calibration of customer returns.
  • Technician may be asked to provide upgrades, conversions and modifications to instruments based upon instruction from Manager and Engineering.
  • This person must have a clean DMV record and will be asked to undergo a background check.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • 2 years prior repair/field service experience and or equivalent military training preferred. Technician must be able to communicate clearly both in oral and written English and be able to work independently. Technician must have excellent customer service skills.
  • Technician must be proficient with the use of electronic test equipment including but not limited to digital voltmeter, oscilloscope, ammeter, power supply, and basic hand tools.
  • Technician must also be able to read and understand schematics, loading drawings, bill of materials, wiring diagrams, be proficient in AC, DC and digital theory and possess excellent mechanical and soldering skills. Technician must be able to carry loads of up to 50 lbs.
  • An Associates Degree in electronics or other related field is preferred

Senior Assembler

RKI Instruments Inc., a growing and innovative gas detection company located in Union City is seeking a Senior Assembler to join our Production Department. This person must be a team player, willing to help wherever help is needed within the Production team. The position entails ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively. This person will be asked to undergo a background check.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assembling and testing gas detectors
  • Hands-on working in Production Department as needed to meet customer requirements.
  • Assist the Manager in organizing the workflow of other employees.
  • Oversee and coach employees.
  • Identify issues in efficiency and suggest improvements.
  • Enforce safety policies and procedures (both in-house and regulatory) to decrease the potential for employee injuries on the job.
  • Ensure all resources and assets are used efficiently and correctly.
  • Ensure the safe use of equipment and schedule regular maintenance.
  • Follows Company policies and procedures.
  • Interface with all other departments as needed.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of electromechanical, PCBA, manufacturing process and assembly experience.
  • Posses applicable experience, skills, and knowledge to perform all aspects of job; rotates through all job responsibilities.
  • Works with sense of urgency to meet needs of customers.
  • Takes responsibility for actions, results, and mistakes.
  • Ability to identify issues in efficiency and suggest improvements.
  • 3+ years related experience in a supervisor position or equivalent work-related experience desired.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field a plus.

Skills/Knowledge:

  • Able to operate power tools and drill press.
  • Able to read assembly drawings and technical notes.
  • Basic Measurement and gauge use skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Receiving and making written, telephone, and e-mail contact with potential and existing customers for the purpose of developing business relationships.
  • Focus is on OEM accounts, large accounts, and customers for new products, and for new markets for existing products. This includes technical support with applications, both from the corporate office and through visits to the customer location.
  • Sales activities include market and customer qualification, determining market potential, and identifying the proper product for the application
  • Interface with Sales and Marketing, Applications Engineering, and Engineering/ Product Development to identify potential new business and identify or create the product that meets the need of the application. The Business Development Manager will also work closely with executive management to prioritize and assess risk and potential for new projects.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or other technical field is desired, and an advanced degree in marketing is also a plus.
  • Experience in sales, engineering, product development, and marketing is preferred.
  • General proficiency in computer skills (word processing, spreadsheet, etc.) is required. The Business Development Manager must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A thorough understanding of the Gas Detection industry and of the company’s product line is preferred. In addition, the Business Development Manager must have sufficient technical proficiency and applications knowledge to accurately identify the potential for new business opportunities and evaluate any feasibility issues with product offering. An in-depth understanding of sensor and instrument technology is also desired.
