Repair Technician

RKI Instruments, Inc., an innovative gas detection company located in Union City, is seeking a focused individual with strong technical and customer service skills to provide in-shop service on RKI Instruments and Riken Keiki portable and continuous monitoring gas detection instruments. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Technician provides evaluations, estimates, troubleshoot to component level and calibration of customer returns.
  • Technician may be asked to provide upgrades, conversions and modifications to instruments based upon instruction from Manager and Engineering.
  • This person must have a clean DMV record and will be asked to undergo a background check.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • 2 years prior repair/field service experience and or equivalent military training preferred. Technician must be able to communicate clearly both in oral and written English and be able to work independently. Technician must have excellent customer service skills.
  • Technician must be proficient with the use of electronic test equipment including but not limited to digital voltmeter, oscilloscope, ammeter, power supply, and basic hand tools.
  • Technician must also be able to read and understand schematics, loading drawings, bill of materials, wiring diagrams, be proficient in AC, DC and digital theory and possess excellent mechanical and soldering skills. Technician must be able to carry loads of up to 50 lbs.
  • An Associates Degree in electronics or other related field is preferred

Senior Assembler

RKI Instruments Inc., a growing and innovative gas detection company located in Union City is seeking a Senior Assembler to join our Production Department. This person must be a team player, willing to help wherever help is needed within the Production team. The position entails ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively. This person will be asked to undergo a background check.

Responsibilities:

  • Assembling and testing gas detectors
  • Hands-on working in Production Department as needed to meet customer requirements.
  • Assist the Manager in organizing the workflow of other employees.
  • Oversee and coach employees.
  • Identify issues in efficiency and suggest improvements.
  • Enforce safety policies and procedures (both in-house and regulatory) to decrease the potential for employee injuries on the job.
  • Ensure all resources and assets are used efficiently and correctly.
  • Ensure the safe use of equipment and schedule regular maintenance.
  • Follows Company policies and procedures.
  • Interface with all other departments as needed.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of electromechanical, PCBA, manufacturing process and assembly experience.
  • Posses applicable experience, skills, and knowledge to perform all aspects of job; rotates through all job responsibilities.
  • Works with sense of urgency to meet needs of customers.
  • Takes responsibility for actions, results, and mistakes.
  • Ability to identify issues in efficiency and suggest improvements.
  • 3+ years related experience in a supervisor position or equivalent work-related experience desired.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field a plus.

Skills/Knowledge:

  • Able to operate power tools and drill press.
  • Able to read assembly drawings and technical notes.
  • Basic Measurement and gauge use skills.
  • Good soldering skills.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Team building skills.
  • Problem solving skills using disciplined methods to identify root causes (i.e. 5 Why).
