Schedule: See list of classes below
This course provides in-depth instruction on the proper calibration of fixed gas detection systems to ensure accuracy, reliability, and regulatory compliance. Participants will learn the fundamentals of calibration equipment and techniques, including regulator selection, the differences between constant-flow and on-demand regulators, and how flow rate impacts sensor performance.
The training covers calibration best practices for both on-board sensors and remote-mounted sensors, with detailed discussion on tubing selection, comparing Tygon versus Teflon, and how tubing length and material affect gas delivery. Critical factors such as sensor warm-up time, flow time, conversion factors, and the use of humidity tubes for MOS sensors are addressed to help prevent calibration errors.
Hands-on instruction includes calibrating at the controller via direct connection, as well as calibrating at the transmitter for both wired and wireless systems. Participants will also learn how to verify and test relay logic to confirm proper system response following calibration.
By the end of the course, attendees will have the knowledge and confidence to perform accurate, repeatable calibrations across a wide range of fixed gas detection system configurations.
