GX-6000 Firmware Update

The following instructions are for loading firmware into the GX-6000 in the field with an IR cable and then load the PID library into the GX-6000 if it needs it. If your instrument has a firmware previous to 05162, you will need to load the PID library in addition to loading the firmware. If your instrument’s firmware is 05162 or later, then you only need to load the new firmware. Attached is firmware version 05162. Version 05162 is where the PID gas screen in Display Mode was moved to be the first item so it is easy to see what gas the PID channel is setup for.

Note the following:

Do not perform a FACTORY DEFAULT in Factory Mode or the PID library which is stored in flash memory will be wiped clean. If this happens, the PID library will have to be loaded again. After loading the new firmware and library (if needed), check the PID alarm points. If they don’t look right, go into Display Mode and select the PID gas again. I recommend using the Legassic cable, but the Actisys IR2002UL will probably work also if that’s all you have and want to try it.

Reprogramming procedure:

  • Copy the files and zip folders listed below to your PC.
  • Unzip both of the zipped folders.
  • Follow the instructions in the FW_Updater.pdf to load the firmware. The FlashSelf.exe file is located in the FW Updater ZIP folder.
  • Install the PID Gas List Editor Program. Double click setup.exe located in the PID list loading ZIP folder to install the program.
  • Load the PID gas list into the instrument. Follow the instructions in PID_tool.pdf. If the firmware you are replacing is 01562 or later, this step is not necessary.
