Repair & Service Manager

RKI Instruments, Inc., an innovative gas detection company located in Union City, is seeking a focused individual with strong technical, leadership and customer skills to manage our Field Service and Repair Department. This role is responsible for understanding the company and customer’s service and repair related needs; developing, defining and implementing short and long-term service strategies to achieve company and customer objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Field Service and Internal Repair strategies to help the company achieve strategic goals and objectives. Products are gas detection instrumentation, both portable and fixed systems. Instruments must be repaired and calibrated as needed.
  • Support, define and implement Service Repairs, Reporting and Training.
  • Responsible for managing the selection and development of people and resources necessary to perform the functions of the department.
  • Assign duties and work direction to department personnel.
  • Create product technical updates for systems that are returned for repair.
  • Manage return authorizations and return authorization process as pertains to the responsibility of the Service Department
  • Make technical suggestions regarding modifications to documentation, product performance and failure analysis.
  • Manage and establish field service customer database, produce field service quotations as well as perform on-site service and service evaluations.
  • Responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of all repair orders and return authorizations.
  • Monitor work procedures, work schedules, and expedites workflow.
  • Study and standardize procedures to improve efficiency of the Service Team.
  • Train appropriate personnel on RKI Instruments, Inc. procedures for servicing products.

Education and Training

Prefer a bachelor’s degree in area of specialty and/or at least 10 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Must be fluent in spoken and written English and able to interface well with customers via multiple platforms such as phone, email, and in person.

Technical Requirements

Must be able to read and understand schematics, loading drawings, bill of materials, wiring diagrams, technical bulletins and be proficient in AC, DC and digital theory. Must possess excellent mechanical ability, be proficient with appropriate tools for servicing electronic instrumentation. Must be proficient with Windows and OS based computer platforms. Must be able to carry loads of up to 50 pounds.
